![]() I'm also considering opening the console while having no idea of what to do, since the reader seems pretty inaccessible.Do you watch or play rental discs much? That's my biggest pet peeve with slot loaders - they're harder to clean, almost as if they're preying on people who don't know to always clean their discs, which these days sometimes even need cleaning from the factory. ![]() Money is tight to send it to repairs (or to buy a new one). So I'm considering trying one of those old CD's with little bristles, but of course I know that those were made to be used on readers with trays, which is not the case with the PS4, but I'm getting desperate. I just rebuilt the console's database, but nothing is working. I wonder if it moved some dust to a sensitive location? I tried to vacuum it again and again to see if it works, I tried with a CD, a DVD, a different game, but no dice. It was working perfectly fine, and all I did was vacuum it with a cheap and not that powerful home vacuum cleaner. I tried it sideways, horizontally, even upside down, but it doesn't recognize the disc. If I try to open the game from the menu, I get the message: "to start this application, insert the disc". It doesn't spit the disc or do any funny noise, it doesn't give any error message, it just swallows the disc normally, I can hear the little noise of the disc start to spin in there, but it doesn't do anything afterwards. Then I booted the PS4 and voilĂ , the USB ports are back in the game! But then I've found that the disc reader aren't recognizing anything I insert on it. ![]() Then I decided to vacuum not only the USB ports, but the whole console, all around it (without opening it). I read that it might be related with dust, so I decided to insert a toothpick and mess a little bit inside the USB ports to see if there was some accumulation. I've found out this week that the USB ports on my OG PS4 were not working anymore.
